The Global Cities Institute’s (GCI) Director Patricia McCarney presented on the Urbanism, Health and the Growth of Megacities: When is More, More?Panel at the Global Health Equity & Innovation Summit, “Creating a Pandemic of Health” on November 4th, 2014.
This panel concentrated on rapid urbanization and the related intensification of city problems such as shrinking biodiversity, increasing air pollution, and growing social and health inequalities. Measuring and tracking these problems and their resolution has become the focus of a growing number of initiatives.
The speakers on this panel focused on key opportunities for measuring the implementation and success of innovative solutions to complex urban problems impacting health around the world. Patricia and GCI Senior Fellow Professor Anita McGahan presented on urbanism and resilience and the importance of city metrics in regards to health.
